Mythological Significance In Hindu mythology, Sheshnag translates to “The King of Snakes.” Legend has it that Sheshnag himself excavated this lake, which is considered his dwelling place. Scenic and Spiritual Journey The trek to Sheshnag Lake offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and lush grasslands. The route is frequented by Hindu pilgrims on their way to the holy Amarnath Cave, which is accessible only during the summer months when the snow recedes. Sheshanaag Trek Route

The Tulian Lake trek offers a captivating journey through the heart of Kashmir’s pristine landscapes. This trek combines natural wonders with challenging terrains, making it an unforgettable adventure. Starting in Pahalgam, about 95 kilometers from Srinagar City, trekkers ascend through enchanting meadows and dense forests to reach the mesmerizing Tulian Lake, situated at an elevation of 3,685 meters.
Local guides and trek organizers are invaluable, offering insights into the ever-changing trail conditions and ensuring smooth navigation through the scenic route. While there is no universal map for the trek, digital mapping apps and GPS devices can provide real-time location tracking, enhancing the trekking experience. Here is the route and important information you need to know before starting the hike:

Itinerary

Travel arrangements will be made from Srinagar to Pahalgam, located approximately 100 kilometers away. You can choose between two scenic routes: Bijbehra, known for its picturesque views, or the popular tourist route. The drive takes you through the charming rural landscapes of Kashmir, offering a beautiful introduction to the region.

After breakfast, set out towards Chandanwari. The trek begins with a path winding through dense maple forests and along the Ladder River. Enjoy a lunch break en route before continuing the ascent to Pissu Top, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views. The trail to Sheshnag Lake becomes steeper as you approach the destination.

Arrive at the serene Sheshnag Lake, known for its striking deep blue waters and 1-kilometer length. Set up camp nearby and relax for the night.

After a restful night by the lake, begin your descent back to Pahalgam by retracing your steps. Pause at Chandanwari before continuing through the lush maple forests to reach Pahalgam. Once you arrive, take some time to rest before heading back to Srinagar

IN MANDATORY ITEMS –

  1. Original and photocopy of government photo identity card. ID cards of either Aadhar card or passport will do. This is required by the forest department for your identification.
  1. Medical certificate: The medical certificate needs to be filled out by an MBBS doctor, without which the forest department will not issue permissions for your trek.

Base layer:

3 T-shirts: wear one T-shirt and carry two. Carry full-sleeved dry-fit T-shirts (preferably collared). These prevent your arms and neck from getting sunburnt. In the rarefied air on the trek, especially at high altitudes.

3 insulation layers:The highest altitude you reach on this trek is 13,200 ft. At these altitudes, it can get cold even in the middle of summer. You will need at least 3 insulation layERs for this trek. Two trek pants
